walls of wealth

on a lonely evening, I decided to walk it out all alone,
by this dusty, dimly lit road that faces my apartment,
along with the prosperous and the poor, staying on this side,
their addresses the same, still wealth sets them apart,

many recognisable faces, that come close day after day,
but their souls or the deeds, are sealed by the fate,
houses big and small, some secured others openly approached,
kids going to school neatly dressed on my side,
others unkempt loitering by the way side,

there is still a glitter of hope in their young eyes,
as they look upon those prosperous engaged in their busy lives,
someday we will be there, enjoying the very same material pleasures,
we will not be frowned upon as we will be the ones who matter,

our differences will die down, as walls of wealth I climb upon,
hope is all that keeps me kicking, in this wild frentic city,
here there is lots for lots, but still seems there isn't much for me,
dissatisfied I will not be hopeless, as walls of wealth I climb upon.
