Very Minded!

"Very Minded" said a mumbai taxi-wallah to me some hours back. I just dropped a friend on my way to my residence in Mumbai. The serial blasts which occurred around 6 pm were still ruling high on our heads during the taxi ride. So this oldtimer at driving a mumbai taxi said to us "sir dont worry, ye to hota he rahta hai" (this is usual). These terrorists are "very minded" (i wouldn't delve much deeper into that discussion which takes its own communal path) but what he meant was these people are very intelligent.

Thus came an eventful day in Mumbai to an end. Every year I visit this city at least twice on personal agenda. This time the agenda is personal blended highly into my possible professional life in an year's time. I landed in Mumbai at 11.30 pm last night, got completely drenched in the traditional Mumbai downpour which continues to play its hide and seek and by 6 pm I wrapped up these two high profile meetings to run into serial blasts in evening. Waiting for a friend to turn up i was looking at people in this busy food-court in the financial district of the city. Not many looked shaken or discomforted. Or to put it the other way very few were perturbed. People would look towards their food and friends and then gaze at the TV screens which said "Terror is back".

So was there any chance I wouldn't have talked about how unsafe India is and how much do we compromise to make ends meet while working here. These are never ending debates, truth of the matter is we are a prone to attacks be it terrorists or diseases, we are a billion and not many countries can boast of that headcount. The best what I think India/Indian regulators could do is just build more cities and decongest one like Mumbai/Delhi...

I just wish tomorrow is a saner day in the city and am happy to just get drenched once again!
