There is just so much happening around that the time to write has shrunk. Friends did tell me an MBA can do that to you and I can see it doing it to me already.
A day starts with a normal walk aka sprint to the class, the moment one enters the classroom an initial respect is given not to the professor but to the Teaching Assistant keeping the attendance. A few classes over and you walk out of the classroom exhausted?! tired?! and famished?!. Its not that the day is over, rather, it has just begun. While you walk back some event would be announced in the xxxx location, you would want to be there but then there was the event yyyy planned two hours from then. The obvious tradeoff then is between events or assignments, which are no less than a recurring event.
There is one routine activity which I look forward to i.e. my evening workout. My life in this vast school is limited to my room, the school building and the recreational centre, and an occasional burst of socialising. Even if I can manage all these daily, I think that will be a big achievement. The question here is what is my takeaway from the course.
To talk of there is none and there is so much. From analysing businesses horizontally than vertically (industry focus) to evaluating strategies and thinking oppportunities from Australia to Greenland. And then there is a whole gamut of friends I gained. However, while I packed my bags to prepare for the school I was aware that I may not gain much incremental in my domain, a subject I practiced and breathed so many years.
There is one more thing I truly miss and I am sure everyone around me does, I have kind of lost track of occurences beyond this island ie. school. As an investor when I roamed Indian cities I would always be taking down my notes on how some place/business is shaping up, you would visit the same city again in 6 months and find new developments and changes. However, since landing here barring an occasional haircut life remains limited to the vast resources of the campus/campus life.
Its good to be back to school, its good to be carrying a set of notebooks each helping you gain a new insight a new thought. Hope we all walk out saner, fitter and as agents of change.
