On those discussions on Bombay

I can't, I won't and I don't want to please the Bombai-ites (Mumbai-ites) in this write up because its based on, a not so long ago, discussion amongst those not from Mumbai.

A migrant to Mumbai is like a child who recently learnt walking and will be cautious about every next step he takes. Having got his big break to the corporate world or for that matter entertainment, one sets his foot into Mumbai with a great deal of care. Having had successfully dealt with

1. first and foremost, househunt
2. commute through the busy lanes of Mumbai, infact many roads here are as good as lanes
3. bare essentials including food
4. settling down professionally and personally

comes a time, that too, soon in every Mumbai-kars lives when he gets together socially with his gang and gets to bitch. He bitches about his experiences in dealing with the municiapl red tape of Mumbai, traffic jams and unhygienic environs, because guess what, they werent used to living in a just a flat, in a tall tower located between slum developments. And the only thing Mumbai-kars will take pride is city's nightlife. I think the older of the lot have succumbed to the fact that life can't be better, and hence everyone I see even in my office, yearns for that weekend. Come Thursday evening people start asking me, "so whats the big weekend plan". And I wonder repeatedly, why bother its just a couple of leaves, be home, drink, drive or be driven. I have started to feel, I need to be ready to provide a better alternative to this answer, I need to demonstrate I am smart and a true Mumbai-kar, by having a better weekend plan.

Still I would bump into a new bee in town on every weekend the discussion will start yet again from the issues him and I successfully dealt with, and in that order.

No harsh feelings, Shiv Sena and MNS I love you. Jai Mumbai Jai Maharashtra.
